How to find YouTubers for influencer marketing

Influencer platforms are expensive. A keyword search and a spreadsheet get you most of the way.

Start with topics

List 10–20 keywords your audience searches on YouTube: product categories, problems, hobbies. Mix broad ("skincare") with specific ("skincare for sensitive skin").

Collect channels

Run them through Prospect Cheap's YouTube scraper with bulk keywords. Filter by country if your product ships to specific markets; use the Matched Keyword column to see which topic found each creator.

Qualify

Look at:

  • Subscribers — micro (10K–100K) creators often have stronger engagement and lower rates
  • Last upload — skip channels quiet for months
  • Latest video views — a quick health check of the audience
  • Niche and content summary — make sure the fit is real

Contact

Use the business email first; Instagram and X links are a second route. Keep the first message short and specific; offer product, fee or affiliate terms clearly.

Organise

Export to CSV or into GoHighLevel to track stages: contacted, replied, negotiating, live. Note rates and results to build a creator roster over time.

Micro vs macro creators

Big channels bring reach; micro creators bring trust and lower prices. Many brands run a portfolio: a handful of micro creators to test messages, then larger creators for what works.

Red flags

  • views far below what the subscriber count suggests
  • long gaps between uploads
  • many sponsored videos in a row with no organic content
  • comments that don't match the video (signs of fake engagement)

Contracts and disclosure

Agree deliverables, timing, usage rights and payment in writing. Make sure sponsored content is clearly disclosed according to the platform's rules and local advertising guidelines.

Grow your roster

After each campaign, tag creators by performance in your CRM. Next time, start with your best performers and use the scraper to find similar channels in adjacent keywords.

Frequently asked questions

Many brands start with 10K–100K subscriber channels: they often have engaged audiences, reply to email and cost less than large channels.
