How to find newly opened businesses

A new business is choosing all its suppliers at once. Reach it in the first months and you have a real chance.

Why new businesses are great prospects

They need websites, signage, software, accountants, insurance, marketing and suppliers — and they haven't picked them yet. They are also used to being contacted by vendors.

Signals of a new business

On Google Maps, new businesses often have:

  • very few reviews (under 10)
  • few photos
  • a website that is basic or missing
  • social profiles with few posts

None of these alone proves a business is new, but together they are a strong hint.

Re-scrape regularly

The most reliable way to catch new businesses is to run the same search every month and compare: businesses that appear this month but weren't there last month are new (or newly listed). Export each run, match by name and address, and keep the new ones.

What to offer

  • a "launch package" — website, Google profile set-up, review requests
  • bookkeeping and tax set-up
  • local marketing for the opening months
  • equipment and suppliers

Approach

Hi Elena — saw Bloom Studio recently opened in Austin. Congratulations! The first few months on Google are when reviews and photos matter most. We help new studios set up their profile and first 20 reviews — want the checklist?

Be quick

New businesses get contacted a lot. Being first with something genuinely useful wins.

Frequently asked questions

Not reliably. Few reviews, few photos and appearing in a search for the first time are the best practical signals.
