Why Yelp is worth prospecting
Yelp is where people look up plumbers, dentists, salons, restaurants and contractors before they call. That makes it a strong source for anyone selling to local businesses:
- Listings are maintained by the businesses themselves — many owners claim their page to reply to reviews, update hours and add photos.
- Ratings and review counts are public, so you can see who is busy, who is struggling and who is brand new.
- Categories are specific ("Water Heater Installation", "Emergency Pet Hospital"), which makes niche lists easy.
Google Maps covers more businesses overall, but Yelp often surfaces a different slice — especially service businesses in US cities that care about their Yelp reputation. See Yelp vs Google Maps for when to use which.
What a Yelp lead looks like in Prospect Cheap
Each business comes back with the Yelp profile plus contact details found on its own website:
| Group | Fields |
|---|---|
| The business | name, categories, rating, review count, price range, claimed on Yelp, year established |
| The owner | owner name and title, owner email, a confidence level and the evidence it was found from |
| Contact | emails, phone, website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, TikTok |
| Location | street, city, state, postal code, service areas, opening hours |
| For personalisation | niche, a short business summary, a suggested first line, specialties and history |
The owner lookup and website contacts are always included — there is nothing extra to switch on.
How to build a Yelp lead list
- Open Yelp Scraper in the sidebar.
- Enter search terms (one per line — "plumbers", "roofing", "med spa") and locations ("Austin, TX", "Denver, CO", or a ZIP code).
- Every term is searched in every location, so 3 terms × 4 cities is 12 searches.
- Choose results per search — up to 240 businesses each.
- Press Search. Most lists are ready in a few minutes.

Turning the list into conversations
- Filter first. Keep businesses with an email, or with an owner name if you want to write to a person rather than an inbox.
- Use the rating as context, not an insult. A 3.6-star business is a reason to offer review management; a 4.9-star business with 600 reviews is a reason to offer something that helps them grow capacity.
- Send straight to your tools. Lists go to GoHighLevel, Instantly, Smartlead or lemlist with one click — no CSV needed. See send leads to GoHighLevel.
Good offers for Yelp businesses
- Review generation and reply management
- Websites for businesses with a Yelp page but a weak site
- Local SEO and Google Business Profile clean-up
- Booking, call-answering and missed-call text-back systems
- Photography and short video for listings
What it costs
One credit per business found, and nothing for a search that finds nothing. The most a search could use is set aside when it starts and the unused part comes back when it finishes.
